Windows is fully supported, Linux ships as an AppImage. Pick a platform below.

Signed & verified — why you might see a Windows warning

The installer is signed with an Organization Validation (OV) certificate from a trusted CA. Windows SmartScreen uses a reputation-based system, so a new certificate may trigger a warning until enough users have downloaded the software.

To verify: check that the publisher is listed as "Baptiste RAILLARD" — that confirms the download is genuine.

System Requirements

  • Windows 10 or later
  • 4GB RAM
  • 500MB free disk space
  • Internet connection

Auto-updates

The launcher updates itself automatically. Mods are downloaded and updated on demand when you join servers — never out of sync.

Safe & VAC-approved

Uses official Steam APIs only. Doesn't modify game files. Completely safe to use with any server, including official ones.

03 SOURCE · VERIFICATION

Don't trust us. Check.

Everything in the launcher that touches your machine is published. You can read it, recompile it, and confirm the copy you installed is built from it — without asking us for anything.

The code that reaches your PC is public

File and registry access, game launch, Steam integration, mod downloads, auto-updates, and every channel the interface can call — all readable at dayzbeans-launcher-core. The interface itself runs sandboxed and can only reach your system through that published surface.

Your install can be matched against it

That code compiles byte-for-byte reproducibly, so the check is exact rather than a resemblance. Our release build fails outright if the packaged launcher disagrees with the published source — the guarantee is enforced, not promised.

And the file itself is signed

Every release is Authenticode-signed, published with a SHA256, scanned by VirusTotal, and carries a cryptographic attestation binding it to the exact build that produced it. Full instructions →

Verify an existing install — Windows PowerShell
irm https://github.com/TheDmitri/dayzbeans-launcher-core/raw/main/verify.ps1 | iex

Confirms your installed launcher is byte-identical to the signed release, then compares the code inside it against the published source. Takes about a minute.

Prefer to download from somewhere neutral? Every release is also published on GitHub, with its checksums and attestation attached next to the installer — github.com/…/releases. Identical files to the buttons above.

Honest about the limits: this is source-available, not open source. You can read it, compile it, verify it, and publish anything you find — but the interface is not published, so you can't build a complete launcher from source, and the licence doesn't grant the right to fork it. That's a fair thing to want, and it's a different question from "is it safe" — we'd rather say so plainly than blur the two.

Frequently asked questions.

Is it really free?
Yes. 100% free for players. No subscriptions, no premium features, no hidden fees. Server owners can optionally pay for promotion — players never pay.
How do mods work?
Click join, the launcher handles the rest. Mods are downloaded automatically via Steam Workshop. You can also manage, repair, and clean up unused mods.
Is it safe? Will I get banned?
Completely safe. Only official Steam APIs are used and game files are never modified. VAC-approved.
Is it open source? Can I build it from source?
It's source-available, not open source. Everything that touches your machine is published and you can recompile it and confirm it matches your install — but the interface isn't published, so you can't build a complete launcher from source, and forking isn't permitted. How to verify →
Why does Windows warn me about the installer?
SmartScreen builds trust per signing certificate through download volume, so newer releases of smaller apps get flagged regardless of content. Check the publisher name shown in the prompt — it should name us, not "Unknown Publisher". That's the distinction that matters. Verify it yourself →
What about Linux?
Windows is fully supported and Linux ships as an AppImage for Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and other distros. Requires Steam (flatpak or native) with Proton enabled for DayZ.
Why switch from DZSA or the default launcher?
Better UI, server queue info, smart mod management, pre-filtered categories, community hub, built-in impersonator protection.
I'm a server owner. What's in it for me?
Free server claim with name protection. Optional promotion with category targeting and transparent pricing. Event announcements in the community hub. Learn more →
